Too Much Alone Time

Yesterday, I almost lost it. I got my phone and was about to text my buddy to meet me for a beer, when I realized what I was doing. We can't go anywhere, what was I thinking? It just goes to show that underneath all this social distancing we are longing to return to even a semblance of normal. I understand that things may never actually get back to the way they were before, but we can always hope. Society will change. Large gatherings like sporting events, political rallies, casinos, most waterfront events, even concerts and bars/cafes will be different in future, if they are still held at all! I can't see what will happen, but I know we probably don't even have a guess as to how this will all play out.

Hope This Don't Backfire

I hope this stay at home stuff doesn't backfire on all us lazy seniors. It's only been a week, but I already don't seem to miss going out as much as I thought I would. If, after about six to eight weeks of forced solitude and inactivity, we don't get going again, it's going to be bad news for our long term health. I used to go here or there, stopping at 3 or 4 stores as bargains, or purchases, warranted. Now, I'm reluctant to go anywhere. But enough about my paranoia.
Where this is going to hurt us is that we aren't going to re-start exercising, walking, gardening, and all the other stuff. Sitting around with a book (ok, an e-reader) sounds really good instead of pushing ahead to walk in a slight mist. Ellen comes on at 3, but you can deny watching ,if you want. Grocery delivery can be maddening (2 potatoes, not 20 lbs) but it makes it possible to hole up and not go out.
Are the swimming pools where lots of oldsters exercise going to be considered safe for those over 65? Or maybe even those under 65?
Oh, maybe I'll just read for about an hour; then watch Ellen.

A Week On

Like most people I'm now at home. It's not been too hard so far, but I wonder how much longer TV, reading, and yard work can occupy me. I suppose Spring Cleaning is next, even though I successfully avoided a news item on what items I should clean first, etc.
Local news is focused on who know's what; National news is scary, when not downright contradictory or idiotic. I would believe what I see, but my view is of neighbors walking dogs, remaining friendly, but crossing the street to avoid contact with anyone else.
I don't think church on Easter Sunday is a good idea. God is probably self-isolating, anyway!

Something To Do

I 'm not sure about this, but here I am again. Unable to go ANYWHERE, I am trying not to succumb to boredom. I haven't blessed you with any rants in 2 years. Get ready, as I can feel some observations just getting ready to be made.
In the last week I have only been to the grocery store, and on lots of walks through my neighborhood. I have seen about a 200% increase in dog walking, mostly animals that I've never seen before, and the dogs all seem happy to be out. So do the people. On walks, they will walk out into the street to avoid you (keeping their 6ft), but are always polite and usually cheerful.
I've had a library card for less than a month. Glad I got one when I did because you need one to get a book online. I'm on the wait list for several, am reading another, and have one downloaded as a spare. It seems they only have a couple copies of any one item (especially if it's current!) and it could be a while before it's ready for you.
I tried to order something online, and was advised that delivery would about April 5th. I decided not to wait that long for foodstuffs.
See what I mean? Lots of stuff to talk about. Lucky you.
