I have worked all my life. Some jobs were gravy. Some, not. Some, lucrative; others, not so much. The one I have now is somewhere in the middle, if you don't count inflation, cost of living, etc. etc. I'm at the point where I have about one year to go till I reach "retirement age". Everything now is governed by the one thought: "if I do or say this, that, or the other thing, will it affect my ability to stay employed for the aforementionedd time?"
I hate the current state of affairs, but have absolutely no way to change anything; save retiring early. To do that would really throw a monkey wrench into an already complicated scene
What would you do? What would Jesus do? What would my Republican financial advisor do?
Probably, work till I'm 70, defer Social Security, and get a part time job to fill any time left that I have to feel sorry for myself!
Soon, I'll be collecting old paper sacks to use for my lunch (assuming I can still afford one!) and competing with the homeless for cans and bottles to recycle!
Posting this blog will be tough when I'm homeless, but I guess that's what's left of the American Dream.

I Just Don't Know What To Think
I just don't know what to think, or which way to jump lately. We are bombarded with scams and other schemes designed to bring our thoughts (supposing that we still have any) in line with whatever position the perpetrators espouse, no matter how ridiculous or heinous that may be. And I'm only speaking of commercial products, like beer or fast food. I haven't even gotten to the realm of Politics yet. My late friend told me that I tend to "over think" the problem. I'm not sure that is possible when confronted with craziness and insanity from all sides. I guess the only way out is to turn off the media altogether. As they say, we get all the news we need from the weather report.

On Retirement
A friend retired today. It was poor timing on my part, and just plain bad luck, that I didn't get to see him before he left. He and his wife are going on an Alaska Cruise, then moving to Montana to be with relatives. Yesterday, he was as rotten and uncompromising as ever. He even had time to insult me before he moved on to his next customer. Today, there were tears, a large cake, and many good wishes for good times to come. My buddy had little time for that as he was still on the clock, and was dedicated to his job.
I wonder how he will react tomorrow morning when he realizes that the job is no more. The cake will be stale, and Alaska is just a large state that has glaciers and bears.
I, also, will face this relatively soon. I don't have the faintest idea how to cope. I don't like cake or bears, or work, for that matter. Maybe I'll settle for the tears and good wishes.

Why am I Back?
Because I have an opinion! Most people that I meet can't decide what to eat for lunch, let alone formulate a cogent opinion on any subject whatsoever!
I'm sick of Republicans. Democrats are no better. Ron Paul is "out there". Beyond them the fringe gets more scary the further you go.
Comedians have better ideas than politicians. TV weathermen are easier to nail down than any political varmint I've seen lately. Ponzi scheme pushers are more honest than our elected leaders. Is it any wonder that terrorists predict our imminent demise?

Blow up Blazers?
If Paul Allen really is going to sell the Portland Trailblazers as has been reported lately, then let him sell the Seahawks as well. Get those no nothing bozos from Vulcan out of the sports business and back to losing Paul's fortune in the financial sphere where at least they "know" what they're doing! Bill Gates is giving hims money away, but is losing it at an infinitesimally smaller rate than Paul. Bill Gates is the world's largest philanthropist. Paul isn't even on the list. Paul's money is disappearing faster than snow at the gates of Hell.
The poor teams he owns are not faring well.Mostly from micro-managing. Anything must be given the chance to thrive by itself or perish. His teams aren't being given that chance. Maybe now that poor Greg Oden is gone they will be granted that privilege.
